Ceramics Painting @ Home! I love Suffolk Indeed

Early start of last week, I was talking to one of my friends about another order for a 'hand painted mug'...  We were discussing idea's when I suggested...

"Hey, why don't you come round to my house and I'll teach you, that way, the mug is super personal, as you would have painted it yourself?"

This we both agreed and set a date...

This morning I set up the table, laid out the paints, palette, pencils, brushes and scalpel (at the ready in case we needed to remove any paint from the unfired mug) and I awaited to see what design my friend would be painting, onto this special mug!

In between waking this morning, cleaning the house, doing the washing up and getting ready, I resumed the craft of a little book I had started to make at the start of this month.

At art school, I was once taught how to stitch books and create them...  Book binding is so fun to do and you can have as many pages you like, what types of paper, thickness, texture...  again, another totally personal item!

MY FAVOURITE!

Below is a picture of what i've stitched so far...  I have two more pages to add, then I will be adding a brown felt lining, followed by a brown leather cover.  I will be finishing this tonight whilst relaxing with the man and drinking an orange squash (yes, I know how to live on the wild side ;) ).

As I type...

...  At this exact moment, my friend is over and painting this very special mug...  The design is amazing and incredibly thoughtful, not to mention well planned!  I will keep you posted with pictures and you will be able to see the finished mug start of next week, maybe even end of this week...  Stay tuned!

Also note...  If anyone else would like me to make a home visit, or hold a small painting/ceramics party, let me know and I will be happy to supply my services and painting knowledge.

A Mug Fit For An OLYMPIAN!

As we are getting closer to the Olympics, which start next month!  I thought it was only fitting that I painted a mug to commemorate this exciting event.

The official Olympic logo is trademarked and you are not allowed to use this, so I tried to create a design which symbolised the Olympics in a 'roundabout' way.

I decided to use 5, simple stick figures to represent a small collection of Olympian challenges...  Next, I painted each one in the corresponding colours, to the 5 Olympic rings, in the same order as the trademarked logo.

Overall I think these came out a treat!  I also included the British flag inside the mug and painted '2012' on the handle...

Perfecto!

A mug is only £15 - Hand painted and you CANNOT get these anywhere else!  Super special souvenir, of a wonderfully British themed summer this 2012!

ON SALE at the following:

21 St Peters Street, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP1 1XF

#SBS Theo Paphitis and #SSBS - Small Suffolk Business Sunday - I Love Suffolk

Twitter is a marvelous part of our society today, for individuals, businesses, creators, news etc..

Becuase I do, love Suffolk, I have decided to launch my own weekly competition, every Sunday on twitter, called - #SSBS - Small Suffolk Business Sunday

As I'm sure you are aware, Theo Paphitis, an inspiration business man to me, runs his own competition every Sunday, between 5-7.30pm called #SBS - Small Business Sunday (link below) where small businesses across the UK 'tweet' to him about what it is they do.

I think #SBS is a wonderful event across twitter every sunday and its great to see smaller businesses getting a mention...  However, I want to celebrate some of the wonderful small businesses that we have across our county in Suffolk...  As a result, #SSBS  has been born.

To celebrate the launch of #SSBS it is only fair that Theo Paphitis recives the first mug to commemorate this...

Here are some pictures of the mug below...  I hand painted everything you see and personalised it with a message underside, adding his favourite football team, mentioning #SBS and placing his business logo's on the mug!

This was a joy to paint and if anyone would like to commission such a mug please look further down in this blog, to see more examples of my work, or visit my website and see my facebook page.

Hope you like it Theo :)

#SSBS

For this competition I am starting - #SSBS 'Small Suffolk Business Sunday' I want, all small businesses across Suffolk to tweet @ilovesuffolk what it is their business does and include the hashtag '#SSBS' every Sunday, between 5-7pm...

Then, at the end of that Sunday, I will go through all the tweets recieved, pick ONE winner, RT their business and hand paint a mug for them, with their business logo on and '#SSBS Winner' with the date below.  The winner will also get a permanent link to my website and be listed as an '#SSBS Winner!' I will also blog about their business and the hand painted mug they will receive...  The mug will look very similar to the one pictured above.

Thank you and start tweeting your Suffolk Business to @ilovesuffolk this Sunday between 5-7pm, don't forget to include #SSBS in your tweet and GOOD LUCK!

Today at 'loveone' in Ipswich, Suffolk, was 'PUGFEST'!!

Cathy, the shop owner of 'loveone' ran a special day, celebrating pugs - 'PUGFEST', inviting everyone in the area with a pug or small dog, to the shop for a 'get-together'...

To celebrate the very first 'PUGFEST', we ran a competition, to win a pug inspired mug, hand painted and totally bespoke.  Everyone who came to the store on the day, filled in a form, placed it into a jar and at the end of the day, Cathy announced the winner... click link below to view on YouTube...

Birthday Gift in Suffolk - Perfect!

Birthday Gifts!

The past week I have received a fair few orders for birthday mugs...

But I had one in particular to paint, for a close and dear friend of mine.

This young gentleman has been a solid and inspiring friend.  But being only young, he carries much wisdom and speaks words that have motivated and encouraged me beyond belief...

So from this, it was only fitting that I painted a particular phrase he has often said to me, on a mug for him...  As I know all too well, that this particular phrase rings true to us both... even us all.

When one door closes and another doesn't open...
Kick the wall in and make yourself a damn door!

I hope you like the mug Phil, thank you for being an incredible friend

He is also a keen Jack Daniels drinker, so thought i'd add a little 'token' image for his pleasure :)

Note also, the personalised message I added on the bottom of the mug for Phil.

If you would like to order a personalised mug, similar to this, please go to my website or click on the link below to email me...  These are only £15 plus postage!  Makes the perfect gift and is totally created for you, how you want.
